What is the MK24 Midsummer RunFest, and when is it?
MK24 Midsummer RunFest is a 24-hour event held between midday Saturday 20th June – midday Sunday 21st June 2026, at the Caldecotte Xperience. Participants are invited to run or walk the course as little or as much as they want, to earn some fabulous merchandise and raise money for the Redway Runners charity of the year. It’s the best running festival in Buckinghamshire and guaranteed to create memories for you that will last for years to come.
Do I need to be a member of the Redway Runners to take part?
No – the event is hosted by the Redway Runners, and we welcome runners, walkers and ramblers from anywhere in the world to join us! Everyone will be given a warm welcome and looked after over the course of the event.
Am I expected to run for 24 hours?
Not at all, but you can if you wish! Our motto is “Run it your way”, because you can choose to run or walk as much or as little as you want.
If I wanted to try and do as much as I can, is that OK?
Yes. There are prizes for the solo runners who cover the greatest distance or most laps over the 24 hours, the fastest lap time and a prize for the team that covers the greatest distance. There’s also a prize for our most inspirational runner over the event weekend, and this isn’t based on distance covered or speed.
How far is a lap?
Each lap is measured at 6.55 miles which is a quarter of a marathon, or little over 10k.
How many laps do I need to complete for the distance pins?
We have distance pins to recognise various levels of participation:
- 2 laps will earn you a half marathon distance pin.
- 4 laps will earn you a marathon distance pin.
- 5 laps will earn you an ultra-marathon distance pin.
- 8 laps will earn you a double marathon distance pin.
The beauty of MK24 is that you don’t have to complete the laps one after the other and can take a break whenever you want.
What do I get if I only complete 1 lap?
1 lap is still a great achievement, and all registered participants will receive:
- A bespoke MK24 finishers medal
- The iconic MK24 towel
- A MK24 t-shirt or vest Entries must be received by 31st May to be eligible for the t-shirt/vest
- FREE tea, coffee, water, fruit and snacks for the duration of the event
Can I complete 1 lap and Saturday and 1 lap on Sunday?
Absolutely – our motto is “Run it your way” so take a break between laps and soak up the event village atmosphere or go for a snooze, it’s completely up to you.
Does the event count towards the 100 Marathon Club?
Yes it does. If you would like your participation at MK24 to count towards the 100 Marathon club, you will need to complete 4 consecutive laps without a break. You may only claim 1 qualifying marathon during the event, regardless of how many laps you complete in the 24-hour period. Chip timing will confirm that your run was completed accordingly.
Can I bring someone who is not a participant to support me?
Yes you can. Many participants make a weekend of the event by bringing partners, parents, friends, and we will have games, music and entertainment in the event village to help keep spectators occupied while you are out on the course.
Can I run with my dog?
We love dogs, but unfortunately UKA Rules do not permit dogs on the run.
Can I enter a team?
Yes, anyone can enter with their running pals to compete for the team prize with between 4-6 runners. Just give your team a name and nominate a leader for the purposes of registering.
Do the team take it turns in a relay?
It’s up to you. Each team will be given a baton, and the team result is based on the number of laps the baton completes. If you want to run it relay style (1 team member out on the course with the baton at a time) that will count as 1 lap. If you want to run/walk collectively as a team (or part team) with the baton out on the course with several team members, that will also count as 1 lap.
Regardless of how many laps the baton completes, each team member will be recognised for the number of individual laps they complete (tracked using their individual bib number) and will be awarded milestone distance pins accordingly.
Are junior runners allowed?
Juniors between 12 and 18 years are welcome to join us at the MK24 Midsummer RunFest. In line with UKA rules, juniors under 15 years will not be permitted to run the entire 6.55km course but run half laps of approximately 5km. Please note that under UKA rules under 20’s are not permitted to run more than 4 CONSECUTIVE laps without rest in between.
By completing two half laps over the 24 hours, junior runners will be eligible for the fantastic MK24 medal plus the iconic embroidered hand towel and race t-shirt/vest.
For safety reasons, we insist that junior runners are supervised whilst on site and on the run (even though we know most of them run faster than us adults!). If you wish to join in the fun with your children, then please feel free to enter them too.
What is the route like, and where does it take you?
The course starts at our base at the Caldecotte Xperience, and it takes in open countryside, glorious parkland, the beautiful Caldecotte Lake, The Open University and the river Ouzel. The route is picturesque with a few small inclines, but not too many.
Is camping permitted?
Yes, we have a secured area at the run HQ which is available for camping from 6pm on Friday evening, until 2pm on Sunday afternoon. We also have tee-pee tents available for hire that sleep up to 6, and can accommodate a limited number of small campervans. Please visit our dedicated campaing page for more information here.
Will parking be available?

What other facilities will there be?

All participants will need to bring their own water bottle or bladder pack, and a mug or thermal cup for hot drinks. Are towels provided for the showers?
No. We will be providing showers free of charge, but you will need to bring your own towel and toiletries.
Is there a compulsory kit list?
The only compulsory requirement is a head or chest torch. This will be mandatory for all laps starting between 8pm and 4am, and runners will not be allowed to start laps without one.
Other kit is advisory and includes:
- A mobile phone (and charger)
- Appropriate clothing for the forecasted weather conditions A change of warm clothing is recommended, even if the weather is forecast to be hot as temperatures usually drop significantly at night.
- A water bottle or bladder pack, and a mug or thermal cup for hot drinks.
Will I be able to charge my mobile phone / smart watch over the weekend?
A bank of USB charging points will be available at race HQ for you to charge mobile phones, smart watches etc, but please bring your own charging cable and any necessary adapters.
